Harare, Zimbabwe 21 February 2023: YahClick, the Data Solutions subsidiary of Al Yah Satellite Communications Company PJSC (the “Group”) has partnered with ZARNet to successfully implement High Throughput Satellite (HTS) broadband to digitally connect schools and several governmental institutions to new services. Under the agreement YahClick is working closely with state-owned service partner, ZARNet, who is playing a crucial role in connecting 4,500 schools as part of a three-year renewable contract. It remains one of the largest customer acquisition projects undertaken by a single service partner of YahClick.
The project commenced in mid-2022 and is on schedule to achieve its key milestones. To date approximately 1,000 sites have been enabled with HTS Broadband Solutions, with the remainder to be installed in 2023. ZARNet has established itself as the primary network infrastructure provider for various Zimbabwean Government projects. By partnering with YahClick, ZARNet has been able to commit to an aggressive rollout plan whilst remaining commercially viable to all its stakeholders.
This was made possible by YahClick’s ability to deliver HTS capacity across Zimbabwe in support of ZARNet’s project objectives. Connectivity for schools and other Government services remains a challenge, especially in rural areas of the country where terrestrial communications infrastructure is lacking.
YahClick is solving these issues by providing fast, reliable and consistent satellite broadband services to support ZARNet. The new infrastructure will unlock new capabilities for both learners in-class and remote learning as well as improving services offered for other governmental organizations.
Sulaiman Al Ali, YahClick Chief Executive Officer, said: “This partnership highlights YahClick’s ability to successfully implement government projects at a national level. We are proud to have been selected by ZARNet to take part in such a critical project that will impact the lives of thousands of students, teachers, parents and Government civil servants. It is essential those in the education and other sectors have the digital infrastructure and connectivity in place to support their efforts to provide a wide range of services. Fortunately, our experience and expertise in this field has enabled us to deliver on our commitment to ZARNet and in turn helped underserved communities across Zimbabwe access important services.”
Eng Washington Musungwa, ZARNet Chief Executive Officer, said: “Our partnership with YahClick has proved to be invaluable in enabling ZARNet to deliver on the goals set out by Zimbabwean Government. There are many communities across the country that have little or no connectivity due to a lack of reliable digital infrastructure. But thanks to the support provided by YahClick we are now well on our way to transforming the lives of thousands of people across the country for the better.”
The project is in line with Yahsat’s key objectives as a pioneer in the satellite communication industry. YahClick aims for this partnership to deliver its advanced connectivity technologies to communities that need it most and plug any gaps in communication infrastructure.
In addition to reinforcing Yahsat Group’s position as a leader in the satellite communications industry, the partnership further strengthens YahClick’s desire to expand its pioneering services, offering advanced solutions to unserved and underserved communities in the region.
